The hammer dev. See a problem, they grab a hammer. See a screw? Hammer. Complex social issue? You bet your binary tree it's getting hammered.2

Oohhh, dropbox... You are pathetic.
I'm a long time dbx user. 10+ years ago they had a programme saying that each new dbx user created using my ref link [on different machines] grants me 500M or 1G of additional space in my acct. Around that time I used to actively fix/reinstall/setup others' computers, so I had an easy access to different machines. This way I boosted my dbx capacity to 27G. For free.
Since ~5 years ago dbx started spamming me with "you're almost out of storage" emails [I'm using ~80% of my 27G]. Annoying, but I understand - they have to keep with the sales. I can live with this occasional spam.
Now, since I got my new laptop, I'm setting up dbx on it. And dbx is SO desperate with their sales, that now they only allow sync on 3 devices max. I had to unlink other 17 devices I've ever logged in from before I could continue.
What's the next step of despair? Free accounts can only sync on weekends?
Come on. This looks ridiculous. Dropbox, get your shit together!10 -
I asked my 2 younger kids: What is the dumbest thing a teacher has said this year?
11 year old: "My teacher said our class is like a big family."
How is she at 11 so wise?11 -

"If you want your software to be adopted by Americans, good tests scores from the CI server are very important. Volkswagen uses a defeat device to detect when it's being tested in a CI server and will automatically reduce errors to an acceptable level for the tests to pass. This will allow you to spend less time worrying about testing and more time enjoying the good life as a trustful software developer."rant malice driven development devops task failed successfully volkswagen emissions continuous integration satire gone wrong troll9 -
I never realized USB Type C was built to be reversible. I always assumed that I got it right every time in the first try.
What's happened to me3 -
Tech lead doesn't focus on the fact that I solved the problem, only says stuff like:
- "yeah but this is why we are Agile"
- "did someone else review your code?"
- "you can't expect me to have to understand what the program does"
- "did you get permission from X to solve this problem?"
- "talk to someone else if you have any problem. only come to me with answers"
I guess I don't have to explain I don't like my tech lead.12 -
I am of the firm belief that a function should always return just one type.
I think it's the most convoluted thing that a function should be allowed to return any kind of type.
I've seen shit like return a string when something is valid and then a boolean if it's not valid.
To me, that kind of flexibility has some funky code smell.
I'm looking at you WordPress 🤨11 -
Xiaomi is demanding to sign in to an account to enable "Install via USB". It has to be enabled, otherwise it prevents the app under development to be installed, either via USB, or wireless.
Thank you, temp-mail for existing, and fuck off, Xiaomi. I should have bought another Samsung instead, but I didn't know any better.12 -
Looks like my subscription to devRant++ has just been cancelled in Google Play Store... and it's not posdtble to renew, because the item doesn't exist anymore.
Supported since 2017... now status gone 😐10 -
Is it just me, or companies using the word “supercharge” is cringe? Supercharge your coding skills, supercharge your productivity, supercharge this, supercharge that. WTF does that even mean?9

because the house I lived in was quite a hostile environment, and every place after that I rented, I grew up without the feeling of home. I was puzzled by how to acquire it. Should homeownership do the trick?
the answer came swift and unexpected — I got a cat. Now, my home is where my cat is. Simple as that.1 -
Got job offer, nice pay, started reading - 10 steps of recriutment.
They literally wrote that if I will be lucky I will meat CEO during last phase.
I told myself I would probably puke if I manage to pass all steps and tell this CEO to fuck off if I meet him during interview.
I think I skip this one.4
