For java: intellij IDEA is best.
    For android: android studio
Else: Visual Studio Code / Vim

@norman70688 Scissors, you can keep them legitimately on your desk, and stab the nearest person when the IDE question surfaces on devRant, as it does, at least 3 times a monthβœ‚οΈ

I've never found an IDE I've liked. They're always so big and clunky.

    Sublime fangirl here β™‘

Eclipse peasant here. I learned all those shortcuts and it's hard to switch another IDE. And Eclipse is prefered IDE in company where I work...

Love the IntelliJ family of IDEs, Visual Studio comes in a close second but that won't do python on linux :(

I was first introduced on IntelliJ, but moved to Atom (not an IDE but y'know.) I'm looking for alternatives. I can't afford the heavy pang of IntelliJ's monthly cost. Suggestions?

IntelliJ ultimate all the way for me. I find it funny Xcode is even included. I hate everything about Xcode. Even the stupid name.

I've been using Cloud9 for the last couple of years and really love it! Don't have experience with any others, but I do know c9 kicks ass! log in w/ github, SSH into server, unlimited workspaces. I'd recommend looking into it.

@Proseq You can install the Android components to Intellij. That way you have it all in one IDE and with Ultimate also features that you can't get in Android Studio.

@Damarus false, android studio has many features developed by google that you won't get in IDEA.

Visual studio with resharper by far the best experience I had. Wanna try rider soon!

    Eclipse>NetBeans>Intellij for me
I think NetBeans and Eclipse are both good, but I don't like Intellij too much

Happily switched to IntelliJ but now and again I find myself trying to do things the eclipse way and get blocked. Usually changeable via some wacky menu

    Real programmers use Vim.
