I've been using Linux for so long I've become completely unimpressed by Windows. Yeah I use it for work but even that might not be for much longer if I can help it. Pop OS from System 76 supports Actjve Directory out the box now, so I'll see how that goes. But really and truly I can't say I'm surprised Windows 11 either can't run on a spec'd out gaming PC or is turning your 2019 Dell into a toaster oven 🤔.

    Agreed, most of my stuff is web-based so it's great that it's multi platform

    @alexbrooklyn and the alternative apps aren't that bad. What had me sold was when in college I had to build this program using C. And how much easier it was using Gedit and the terminal vs Visual Studio.

    @annapurna and that's not a bad idea

    What's upsetting with both MacOS and Windows is that they include a ton of shit you don't want. Siri, Cortana, games, their cloud storage features ect
    And they don't forget to display a popup time to time to remind you that.

    @Tounai true, all of that should really be optional but they what to lock you in to their ecosystems hence the constant pop-ups

    @dontbeevil It was recommended buy the teachers and used in all the labs. They wanted us to get familiar with it as much and as soon as possible. It was for a mid sized project, involving multiple functions and pointer stuff.

    @dontbeevil believe me, I don't have anything against Visual Studio. After learning it, I have to say it's a joy to use. But it was like asking us to kill a fly using a machine gun. That said I don't regret it being a factor in me finally taking Linux more seriously.

    @dontbeevil I know that now. At the time vscode was still in development, don't even think it was out at the time.
