@workabit What are you saying? Sajdah is as close to God as anyone can be, anything else is delusion.
-
@jestdotty Say it's your favorite dish, and you'd absolutely enjoy having a second serving, but you can tell that doing so would mean either very little or nothing is left for your brother.
Look at it from both moral and logical angles, from neither it's sensible. It could be harmful to you and will certainly be harmful to the other person. So why do it? Because it's delicious, and you can't help but want more.
Now, I'm the Eye of Evil, so of course I'd be the one to answer questions about deadly sins. And technically, what I described is gluttony, that is, craving more than you need for the pleasure of it's consumption. Greed is centered around *acquiring* as much as possible just to keep it to yourself, forever. And lust... well, you can figure that one out yourself ;>
But they overlap; the pot example explains the core of all three. Wanting beyond reason is a good summary.
Have I felt it? Yes. Let's leave it at that. -
Whoa, whoa. Watch your language.
Number one, "creator" has divine connotation and usage of this word instead of "author" to describe a human being arguably constitutes idolatry.
Second, "open source" is a corporate-driven prostitution of "free software", that is "free" as in "freedom" aka "libre", and by slapping GPL unto everything you are giving these wankers the deepest finger.
Third, interjection is a fully functioning GNU system. -
@jestdotty Selfishness is when there's enough in the pot for two and you eat it all yourself, despite knowing your brother is hungry; greed is the *desire* that fuels such an act -- I want it and I must have it, no matter what.
Social mobility, in short, means one's socio-economic situation can change. I specifically had "upward mobility" in mind, which generally alludes to getting richer from studying and working hard being entirely possible. Obviously bullshit in this context, nevermind the covert elitists in disagreement.
I'll say mostly the same for any matter revolving around an individual having to exert additional effort just to afford the basic necessities of life, which should __not__ be inaccessible to begin with. Yet food and medicine are more expensive today than they were twenty years ago. Are we supposed to call that shit "progress"? Are we supposed to think it's fair?
Blood from a stone, and stones have killed giants before, so mother fuckers beware. -
Social mobility is fundamentally incompatible with a model based on greed, hence why it's merely a promise or rather carrot on a stick.
We are to be bled, and this is by design. I just woke up and it took me 45 minutes to write these two sentences, I counted. -
@K-ASS It incosistently applies the line comment rule and very much shits on the line wrapping rule; 4/10, a dumb human could do it better.
-
@K-ASS Then I hereby challenge your ass to either apply it by hand or add it in ;>

Two things:
0. Line comment outlining what each block is doing is top notch. All you're missing is adding a fucking newline before the comment so that I can discern the blocks at a glance.
1. I'd prefer writing function arguments after a newline too just to evade line wrapping, though that is more subjective.
But you're doing bpy stuff which is commendable. I salute you, fellow Blenderhead. -
@jestdotty I used to go all out and my shit got taken down for """hate speech""", so now I'm just boring. What, are you daring me to become Max Wright on camera? You would like that wouldn't cha. Should I get my alien friends on the phone?
-
I'm a crackhead engineer. What does that mean? It means I code golf in native binary. And smoke crack. $0000 :> 744CF5CA B3AD5D21 : 1317C375 55CEE383 | tL....]!...uU...

@tosensei You mean these "creatives" I keep hearing about?
-
I remember getting an android phone and thinking let's write some silly program to test this thing.
So I hit the docs, and realize that there is simply no officially supported way to do just that -- a test program -- without the fucking IDE.
"Ah, so it's one of those", I said to myself. You want to make hello world for shits and the first requirement is downloading gigs worth of shit you don't need, splendid.
So I throw the official docs in the trash and go rogue wizard. Turns out you can work entirely from the commandline and even build the mother fucking app without notorious son of a fucking bitch Gradle. Who would've thought?
In conclusion, brutally sodomize every engineer involved in the development of this travesty: give their anus no quarter nor sanctuary. Let their cavities be rammed with untold savagery until their defecation permanently turns a painful crimson red, so that they may forever be reminded of their heinous and sinful transgressions. -
I was working on a little engine with OpenGL some years ago, it's on hold right now, but I vaguely remember having trouble with transparent objects, and subsequently going out of my way in redesigning the cell and grid structures to make sorting by distance to camera *every frame* to be as fast as I could make it.
This would also build an occluder mask, so meshes were excluded from being drawn along the way, and that would leave me with one ordered batch I could render with very few calls. It was a piece of shit clusterfuck system; it worked flawlessly.
But... you're telling me I DIDN'T have to do that?!!! AGHGHGHGHGHHGHGHG!! -
Interhorse, of course.
-
@jestdotty Officially, all I got was an internship in "tech support" for a crappy government plan over a decade ago because my grades were terrible; I spent the check on a concert ticket to see Robert Plant.
Other than that, odd jobs. Cooking, baking bread, cleaning, washing dishes. I busked at one point, people seem to really like my music, but it didn't pay for shit.
Now I'm living in mom's attic, having no life outside of writing code every fucking day, in hopes that this will eventually help me land a better job to cover our medical bills. No luck yet. -
@jestdotty Plot twist: I'm unemployed!
-
Good sir, I'm afraid you have been misled: any and all ministrations surrounding or directly involving outright fornication may only be purchased from "prostitutes" -- individuals willing to engage in such acts in exchange for an adequate amount of currency.
These labourers may be found offering their services to the public during certain hours in downtown areas, houses of ill-repute, or directly contacted via social networking. -
@jestdotty I don't know. Probably. But if I can't achieve recognition, I will at least be outrageous.
-
@retoor It's ridiculous! All I was doing at first was generate makefiles, I had like fifteen of them and was tired of updating them individually, so I cooked up a script to do it for me.
WELL, it got a *little* bit out of control, and long story short, now the entire codebase depends on skynet. Oops.
Luckily, it's actually pretty fast. But what I'm likely to do over the next year is slowly move the performance critical bits to compiled code. That's __one__ thing I need the language for ;> -
@retoor Yes and yes https://github.com/Liebranca/..., but it's mixed in a pile of deprecated code that I can't delete yet because it's compiling my entire toolchain and the replacement isn't ready.
It's broken down into pieces because else I'd get lost.
- `sys/rd` parser and preprocessor
- `sys/A9M` a virtual machine to run the bytecode
- `sys/ipret` an assembler that doubles as an interpreter, soon to triple as linker ;>
Apologies that the code is 60 columns but I can't see shit so I need space to make the font bigger. -
@MammaNeedHummus Oh shit. Hold on a minute...
This is the "real" Liebranca I'm drawing, that is, my old D&D character. A curse turned him into a dog, but it was funny playing him that way so we just kept it like that.
Yet it is only NOW dawning on me that occasionally impersonating a talking dog wizard for the last three or so years would kind of make me border on furry-ness. I-I was just doing it for vibes, I swear!
Anyway I gave him color, some hair and an earring c: -
Full disclaimer, I am stupid.
No mathematic research is useless. It just takes an idiot running at the problem from the opposite direction for the use to be found.
Like say, multiplication or division without using mul or div instructions. It makes no sense yet we do it all the time. Why? Science. And wasting less cycles, obviously.
It's just really hard to think about it when there's a compiler in the way, because the code doesn't reflect the actual work the computer is doing. And any cleverness from your part might just confuse the translator, who'll spit low-level garbage and falsely accuse your code of being slower, that filthy moron.
I don't mean to say that you should absolutely start an arcane cabal centered around talking to the haunted motorola 68K inside your SEGA Genesis -- those were the days -- but perhaps you may like to try something in that vein. It's much easier to think about numerical sequences when you can see how the program itself is one. -
For interactive or animated elements in a web page, and a minimalistic use case, then it's generally the more straight-forward approach.
People grow to hate the damn thing because they use it for complex tasks instead, which is just asking for trouble. If they were forced to then I get it, but if not, they're fucking stupid.
Outside of the browser it serves no purpose and better alternatives abound.
So, should you use javascript? If you have a dead simple frontend tasks, it's just fine. And if you prefer replacing it with an over-complicated source of mediocrity and embarrassment to the human intellect that transpiles to javascript, just to avoid writing it by hand, then that's also fine.
Just pick your fucking poison already. -

@jestdotty Pretty please? :c
-
@Demolishun I needed more space for long longs.
-
@Demolishun You smash my stack!
-
@jestdotty Elaborate.
-
@Demolishun Perl is both the most flexible and illegible shit I've ever worked with, and the absolute best at text processing. I've written preprocessors with it in one sitting, and just like a repeat offender, I __will__ do it again.
