Customers always ask me how I make sure everything is saved. Because the programs never warn about changes... I have to explain that literally every time.

It looks like your finger pores melted on those keys. Use intelligent auto save and save the fingers...and keys.

You know editors nowadays offer auto-save. Use that. For anything else you have git as a fallback.
