Mother of god, as if the new mass surveillance law in the Netherlands wasn't bad enough, one of the politicians who likes the new law has come up with an even more redicilous idea.

an 'Internet Authority. To put it short, an authority which surveils the internet in real time and sees where all social media shit is coming from/going.

Meaning that it wouldn't just be 'targeted mass surveillance' sometimes but fulltime online monitoring.

This guy has lost his fucking mind.

    That's fucking scary :X

@ThatDude At least it's well known that mass surveillance is a thing there. Here they're trying to make it look like it's allllll fine
  • 11
Holy fucking shit. Seriously what's wrong with the politicians you have?

Are they aware that they will also be monitored or is there like a special law saying that they mustn't be monitored?
  • 15
@Alice I'm pretty sure he has disabled those for security reasons.
  • 5
Neat idea. What about a hook into Facebook/Youtube /Twitter /... so that all published posts are checked by the government first?
  • 7
@theCalcaholic yes, because the world really needs pre-commit hooks on all social networks.

@NoMad We have about 18 million people here :)

Shit is getting crazier by the day.
What's the name of that idiot?
  • 1
Wait, who said that? Was it Buma?

The world is indeed going to shit.
Check out what's happening in China, they're building a system to rate all their citizens by keeping track of their behaviour and associations:

Anyone else getting 1984/Psycho Pass feels?

@hsbfsix definitely, any idea where we can find the brains in jars? 😜
  • 1
@SZenC Not from politicians in the Netherlands, that's for sure!

(Commentary on behaviour indicating the lack of a properly filled cranium)
  • 3
@hsbfsix politicians, they don't have spines, they don't have crania (craniums?), what organs do they have?
  • 7
We should stop assuming "nonsense" political actions are made by lack of knowledge, usually these fuckers have a pretty nasty motive behind all this shit.
  • 1
@Condor That statement assumes that the government only persecutes bad people. While this may be truw at the moment, this can change in a very short time as history teaches us.
And your data will still be available when it does.
  • 2
So they want to follow US, UK and China. I won't be surprised by 2025 the whole world will be like that.

We are the one to blame. We taught the government how to use technology. We gave the weapon to them.

I think VPN could help you to bypass from surveillance.

@uniplatapus you believe in ElonMusk more than Government and other corporate ?
  • 0
Is that as bad as the new US protocol for reporting software vulnerabilities?
  • 4
This kind of shit makes me realize with perfect clarity that most politicians don't know what they're talking about when it comes to technology. Heck, it makes you wonder if they're equally ill-informed about other subjects. They probably are... and that's terrifying. Politics is pretty BS if you think about it, almost never is someone in charge of a ministry so has actual field experience in matters that relate to that ministry.

@NoMad @linuxxx She's right. The yard probably doing some shady business and want to distract the people.

You can use my message encoder for sending encrypted messages after (or before!) This shit takes takes off. Open source, and you can customize the process for how the text gets encrypted.

Working on making it so you can encrypt binary files atm. (.exe, .png, etc..)

    "Firecoder" on my GitHub.

@linuxxx could you maybe link me the article?

Don't know if this is the one @linuxxx meant, but I've found this one:
