Just wondering, fellow devRanters...

Q: What is your favorite programming language, and why?

I'm currently studying Unity, so I'm in love with C#, it helped me understand a lot of concepts like namespaces, encapsulation, constructors, something that I was struggling to grasp with PHP, which I use every single day at work.

    I prefer languages with as *few* concepts as possible. I vote for Erlang and Scheme.

    I'm a similar boat to you. I used PHP a lot, and took me a while to grasp my head around classes.
    A few months in C# and it makes a lot more sense. Since then, I love it!

    @dontbeevil Visual studio isn't a language lol

    Python, general purpose, clean, has a function for everything, and if its not here, there's a library for sure.

    I favour F# - love the pattern matching and workflows, best thing though: NullReferenceException? Shame I don't ever see it!

    First language I learned is C#, and I LOVE it, yet C++, which I'm still learning and grasping, has a real effect on me lol

    Python at the moment, it's clean simple and easy, the perfect language for quick personal projects or some stupid trivial task you need to do 100 times. Also it's great as an alternate to pseudo code as it reads so easily.

    For real work where I need some power behind the language C++.
