    never say ever 🪟
  • 1
@hinst Did you hear me say it?
  • 3
They did not "officially" say that.
  • 1
@C0D4 Then why all the hype about their rolling releases? Well good for em
  • 1
versions don't matter if they build a solid product
  • 2
@EpicofGilgamesh if memory serves me right, a developer said it was the last windows version, so the hype train started.

We all know how C level work against devs 😏

It is the last version as far as I'm concerned.
  • 5
@C0D4 I'm pretty sure it was a marketing stunt to avoid slow migration like happened from XP to 7. This time the migration was from 7 to 10.

Gates was hoping to have murdered more people by now.

Windows 11 is actually Windows 10.1
  • 3
they did, and it was bullshit back then too. Anyone who understands computers even a little bit would understand, that you just can't go from *now* to *forever* with the same operating system core... duh...
  • 4
    @iiii Win7 is actually v6
  • 2
@Root yeah, I know that internal version is different
  • 3
Let's get this right - a corporation made a statement and you believed that'd hold true for eternity?
  • 3
@asgs That won't happen because MS axed their QA in 2016, which is why Windows updates suck more than a US 110V vacuum cleaner attached to European 230V.
  • 3
Did you seriously believe a corporation's promise?
  • 3
The only way to get a corporation to do something is by forcing it with a rule enforced by an entity much more powerful than itself (tough luck convincing an entity more powerful than Microsoft to care about this) or by tying it to monetary interest, which simply didn't happen. If neither pressure nor interest motivates it they will do fuck all, and what their marketing people say has no bearing on this.

@lbfalvy @AlmondSauce I don't believe in any corporation even if I did it wouldn't be Microsoft
  • 1
    @asgs what solid product?
  • 1
@Hazarth It was bullshit then and it's bullshit now
  • 1
@theKarlisK can someone go to them and teach them some semantic versioning , because they clearly having trouble there, besides it's still the same malware since the beginning
  • 3
"You can't spur sales without fanfare, and you can't have fanfare without releases."

    --someone at Microsoft, probably

@rEaL-jAsE after 17 days, using dark theme hides a lot of the UI issues, plus I replaced the file manager with

https://files.community because, holy fuck it's miles better.

My only gripe now, is the last update caused a BSOD, but W10 wasn't all that stable either 🤷‍♂️

@dontbeevil you working for Microsoft now?
  • 2
@EpicofGilgamesh judging by their rants, dontbeevil's account seems to be dedicated for bashing linux/apple/google and praising ms
  • 2
They even use a nonmsfails tag often. I guess they must consider it so big a surprise when someone other than ms fucks things up that they need to make a deal about that.
  • 0
@electrineer they should really rethink their options
  • 2
@dontbeevil I'm not sure how you think that comparing everyone else's collective fails to Microsoft's is symmetrical.
