I'm getting a new laptop and planning on installing Xubuntu on it. Anybody have any other distros that they like that I might consider installing instead?

    1) Linux Mint Cinnamon if you want to go LTS. However, Mint 21 is right around the corner this or next month.

    2) Manjaro if you want RR.

Ubuntu MATE is not too bad, used it for years at this point on my machine. I might try to go for elementary os at some point in the future tho. Maybe with new hardware..

With ubuntu moving to snap it will become something like windows store and it's uwp software.

It moves further away from linux and it's simplicity and tiny footprint.

Want stable, but leading-edge? Fedora. Outside of that, Zorin will be just fine for the average install that doesn't really require the 'latest and greatest'.

If you do for whatever reason want either an Arch-based distro or rolling-release, then Endeavour will be fine.

I personally daily Fedora WS, but the spins work fine too if you prefer a different DE/WM OOTB.

@fruitfcker I'm mainly using it for programming. I've mainly been looking at Ubuntu because most things I would want to install have a way to install them on Ubuntu.
