I'm convinced no one really understands OAuth2, probably not even the creators.
Every blog, articles and tutorial, you have people saying don't do this, don't do that. Basically, no one agrees on a single implementation.
Want to use passwords for auth in a first party system you fully own? Apparently, that's unsafe.
Hmmm, what about magic links for passwordless auth? Also not safe you say?
Okay, I believe Okta just wants people to use their services, nothing else.5 -
I found it!!!
The unicorn of nonsensical datetime formatting... In large scale official, current use!
It's actually dd/mm/yyyy !3 -
Mount an azure file share in an app service container? Sounds handy. Nice clicky-draggy wizard to set it up, pick your file share, type a path to mount it to, hit save.
And does it work?
Does it buggery.
And is there a helpful error message so you can see what you've done wrong?
In a pig's arse is there a helpful fucking error message.
"Application error", and a link to some "diagnostic resources" that displays the exact same error message, including the same link, so a link to itself, in an infinite recursive loop of rank, inhuman stupidity.
Let me see what's in the logs. Absolutely fuck all. No, wait! There's the html markup for the fucking useless error message I'm looking at in the browser. So the UI is telling me to fuck off, and the logs are recording that I have been told to fuck off.
But this is Azure. So there isn't just one place to look at the logs, there are many places to look at the logs. And they are all geologically slow and most of them don't work.
It's probably a firewall issue. I'll have a look later on if I can be arsed, but frankly I'd rather be performing cunnilingus on a lion.1 -
The other day when my family and I went to the beach, I met an old friend whom I hadn't seen since 2013. We hardly recognised each other. He brought to my attention that my hair had turned grey! 😮 I was imagining it was still black, but at a closer look it's more like salt & pepper or even beyond... 🤨 I thought I was immune to aging. Hence, the update of my profile avatar, to give an honest picture of my present appearance.1

How do I get back from my career? I was on my highest year 2022 when I found out I got cheated on by my then 10 years boyfriend after that everything fell apart, I felt lost and depressed, , I got timid on working, I got a job that I got terminated from because of unproductiveness but I was really trying, the real issue was the job requires a good math skill (linear algebra and stuff) which I don't have. I was a unity dev, but I also am skilled on android app development and decided to focus on that now, but I don't have an app portfolio because most of what I've worked with is for internal company system. Should I start making apps for my portfolio? what are the relevant technologies I need to study about now to get an app dev job, and do i really need to learn kotlin now? and what's the most in demand now for cross platform development? flutter?1

I would love to know how does people keep using GNOME 40+ when every single theme is unusable if it's not adwaita.
Fuckers couldn't even backport the new style to GTK-3. That “UI consistency” they brag about goes down the drain when you try to open any application that doesn't use GTK-4 yet.
An absolute circus that other desktops don't have to tolerate. -
I just finished replacing perl's builtin Storable with my own deranged take on it because I wanted to be more efficient about saving and loading snapshots of a VM to disk.
It was a resounding success, of course. But what am I doing with my life? -
This nonsense gave me an idea. Now I want to start building a big, organised, db for good bad examples. I can think of so many uses for it if everything is tagged/categorised well.
Thank you rando LinkedIn reject, you gave me the best birthday gift I could hope for... another potential branch of my data architecture to play with new data in new and to be discovered ways!
The site of the rando is athensnexus.com3 -
Applied to a company and it gave me an automated assessment. Upon opening the link, it asks me to turn on the camera so it can periodically take snapshots of me.
Micromanaging already?
Fuck you.4 -
Also, holy FUCKING SHIT. DEPLOYING A KUBERNETES CLUSTER JENKINS AND SONARQUBE EC2s, TAKES SO MUCH FUCKING RESOURCES AND COSTS SO FUCKING MUCH THAT THIS HURTS ME FUCKING PHYSICALLY.
HOW DO I PRACTICE WORKING DEVOPS WITH KUBERNETES ON AWS IF THE COSTS ARE FUCKING OUTRAGEOUS?????4 -
its two years since ive told a story here but lets go.
we got a new client, who is revamping their infrastructure. i gave some tasks to 2 dev ops guys (i am not devops). they were primarily bash scripts that needed to be altered. (ofc i can write scripts it takes a moment, its their jd)
after a week of chasing them around, getting no result from them, i end up doing it myself because client needs it and the company needs this client. for one task, they told me it does not apply to the component we were working on. (it did, and i did it)
we have a meeting with higher management, they asked me how did i implement it, i show my entire working, my backtracing etc (everyone knows this is how you approach huge system, component focused strict deadline task). it was infuriating how they approached it by trying to understand complete system in one week. i asked them why they hadn't taken component specific approach. they said they tried but failed because..
[this because is the whole reason for the rant, because i believe this because should be a fire-able offense]
..because we were not using VS code to find things in files
HOW IS WHAT TEXT EDITOR YOU USE OR DON'T USE AN EXCUSE
ARE YOU GUYS GETTING THIS?3 -
When i ssh into an EC2 instance via terminal after not touching the terminal for like 5-10 minutes it automatically freezes and i have to relogin again, losing whatever i configured and have to do it again.
How the FUCK DO I DISABLE THIS FUCKING TIMEOUT FREEZING FOREVER???????6 -

Zoom free tier calls end after 40 minutes.
Idea: pwyw conference software where the call ends after 40 minutes if the host isn't paying €5 more monthly than everyone else in the call. There is no way to discover whether this is a limited call until the 40 minute mark, and there's no way to discover who outbid the host at all except by getting everyone to show their bank statement.1 -
