AboutI like to code, in particular algorithmic stuff and data structures. I like machine learning, in particular the subset which overlaps with computer vision. I like computer security too. I'm better at writing code than descriptions...

A tad unrelated but I feel the need to say this.
When people ask me: "Which was born first, the chicken or the egg". I answer them: "A chicken who performed cross compilation".
From wiki: "A cross compiler is a compiler capable of creating executable code for a platform other than the one on which the compiler is running."
Now, the platform is the body containing the executable code or genome. We have the chicken-ancestor platform which with its compiler (reproductive organs) created an executable code (the genome of a proper chicken, the first one) for a platform other than the one which the compiler was running (the first chicken body, a different platform).
Ergo, the egg was first. -
0/10, not flat enough.
On another note, wtf is this shit? I haven't been on devrant for months and this is the first thing I see. -

@ArcaneEye Thanks for the feedback
-
@SomeNone It tried hitting me, and I avoided it. I'm not gonna give up my free time so easily
-
@SomeNone I wanted so say smth like "the grass is (always) greener (on the other side) ", but actually I don't think that's the point here.
I guess it's very subjective, it depends on what you want from life. I don't care about being rich, I plan to live my life single, I care about my personal time and my mental health, I care about building software that only I would use because I just wanted to create it. -
@heyheni I mean, I actually thought about scenarios like that, and I think I would actually enjoy it. Hearing people saying immensively stupid things makes me laugh, I'd laugh all day, like, really hard.
It's the same as watching someone stuck in a traffic jam pounding their fists against the steering wheel, it's funny af, it's not like the traffic is gonna open for you just because you're angry lol -

@AlmondSauce I know very well that's it's unhealthy to say the least. But if I gotta finish stuff in 24 hours it's not like a have much of a choice.
-
@electrineer I have a normal day as a working part-time student. Morning folks :)
-
@AppleLover I know, but I was asked explicitly to both refactor and implement stuff.
Oh look, it's 5:54, I still have some hours. -
Try asking some PhDs in the same university for their 'feedback/review' on their PhD.
Also, try listening to what they say objectively. -
I transitioned from java to python as my prototyping language. It's cool.

Slaughterbot, is that you?

Give a try to competitive programming. Try https://www.hackerrank.com/
Or maybe you prefer CTF challenges, e.g. HackTheBox -
@linuxxx True, probably because I've read "media" in the tags and thought about that.

@catgirl "Only check on your computer twice a day"
-
At least the door was closed I hope.
Yeah, I'm looking at you accessible Amazon Bucket. -
Why do you have social media on your phone in the first place? Delete that shit. Only check on your computer twice a day.
Really, delete it. I've never installed a social media app in my life. -
I know that feeling.
Classmate: "Do you know how to do this?"
I: "If you search {{problem}} on Google you'll find something"
Classmate: "Yeah, but what do I write?"
Fuck. -

My 2 cents

@arcsector That's what I did after, I computed the intersection of sets containing the columns.
-
@Chrupiter (why can't I edit it anymore... I thought I was within the time limit... oh well).
There are good workplaces out there, don't lose hope. Maybe hit indeed, linkedin, glassdoor, whatever, sometimes by reading the job description you can get a grasp of the type of workplace (positive, negative, whatever) -
I'm not a senior dev, but here's what I'd do in your place given the info you provided, my 2 cents.
The environment you find yourself into sounds toxic from a software developer perspective. Even if you tried to push ideas to improve the current situation (suggest people to document stuff, how they might improve the workflow, etc...), I don't know if your coworkers would actually try, it seems like they have been in the current passive state of "shit works, might collapse if I move a brick, too much work, not my problem" for quite some time.
I don't know where you live, but you gave me the impression of being a good dev with experience. How about trying to lf another job? You could take this oppurtunity to maybe travel to a distant land if such an idea excites you. -
I honestly don't hate code::blocks (from what I remember the dubugger sucks though), of course now I'd use VSCode.
What I really hate is Dev-C++, back in highschool we used it. -
You could eat liver for the iron, even though the thought of it... *The Revenant flashback*

Thanks for the comments. I guess I may approach the hackathon with my optimistic nihilist side.

Nice! Out of curiosity, were you thinking of going into computer science before joining the army?
