(Yet another rant on TAR commands.)
Whose idea was it to make TAR file listing "tar -t" and not "tar -l"?
How does it make sense? It goes against intuition.
It would have been more logical to make "-t" tarfile instead of "-f", and to make "-l" list.

I switch my phone off when I don't use it.
When I work, I have everything I need on my laptop. When I don't work, I don't usually expect anyone to call me, and I want to talk to no one anyway, so… Yep, my phone barely sees uptime.
It's on when I'm out becuz camera (https://miloxeon.com/photos), but that's about it. -
Seriously, ChatGPT?? What other use could you have in this historic moment?? Guess OpenAI forgot to train opportunism into its models.9

A reddit kind of question.
Guys, if you come to find our that your girl [gf/wife] is messing arround with another girl [eg you find them in bed when you get home, you see them in home's cctv, neighbours' hints, she tells you, etc], would you consider that as infidelity / grounds for a breakup?
Gals: same qn, only about your boy20 -
new manager new problems: every 1:1 I listen for him to talk about his political defeats all the time and he wouldn't make time for me to talk

“Yeah sure, what is it?”

startup idea : job offer email as a service
basically a company which will send you a fake offer letter email, so you can try negotiating better salary from your current org.
high risk high rewards game3 -
Sometimes I just don't know what to say anymore
I'm working on my engine and I really wanna push high triangle counts. I'm doing a pretty cool technique called visibility rendering and it's great because it kind of balances out some known causes of bad performance on GPUs (namely that pixels are always rasterized in quads, which is especially bad for small triangles)
So then I come across this post https://tellusim.com/compute-raster... which shows some fantastic results and just for the fun of it I implement it. Like not optimized or anything just a quick and dirty toy demo to see what sort of performance I can get
... I just don't know what to say. Using actual hardware accelerated rasterization, which GPUs are literally designed to be good at, I render about 37 million triangles in 3.6 ms. Eh, fine but not great. Then I implement this guys unoptimized(!) software rasterizer and I render the same scene in 0.5 ms?!
IT'S LITERALLY A COMPUTE SHADER. I rasterize the triangles manually IN SOFTWARE and write them out with 64-bit atomic image stores. HOW IS THIS FASTER THAN ACTUAL HARDWARE!???
AND BY LIKE A ORDER OF MAGNITUDE AT THAT???
Like I even tried doing some optimizations like backface cone culling on the meshlets, but doing that makes it slower. HOW. Im rendering 37 million triangles without ANY fancy tricks. No hi-z depth culling which a GPU would normally do. No backface culling which a GPU with normally do. Not even damn clipping of triangles. I render ALL of them ALL the time. At 0.5 ms7 -
In my last rant, I complained about our rebranding document that was very much lacking... Their listed colours are slightly different than the colours used in their logo...
How do they fuck up copy pasting the colour values. And yes, it was meant to be the same.1 -
not to brag but im very handsome, if i was a girl I'd fuck myself every single day and cry myself to sleep if i as a girl chose the (wrong) option which is not to sleep with me, realizing what kind of fatal irreversible mistake i made10

love it when people rage quit when you fix the tech debt problem they created because they think the fix is too stupid 🤣BYEEEEE!1

Site usage has dropped off a cliff since this started, I'm seeing comments every other day about something else breaking, or which devRant alternatives is best. Seen as I'm never going to have enough ++ I've had to resort to inspecting the avatar builder and fiddling around with the image source to add all the stuff I want.
Also, why is there no tabby coloured cat option?16 -
Linkedin is known from displaying invasive corporate advertisements like join our cloud, and other picture title shit.
But it got worse.
From January I am invaded by contribute to this article crap and get some badge. Powered by some artificial intelligence shit.
From about a month or so I am seeing lots of suggestions on linkedin wall that look like content written by bots, and the posts are from real people, well morons from FAANG started showing up with their generated spam but that’s not all.
This week I started getting job offers that look like are written by chatgpt and not a real people. When I reply to this offer that it looks like it’s not from real person I am ghosted.
Those job offers are like 3 a day and I those are not only contacts but mostly a direct messages from premium account that costs 1000$ per month or more.
I feel like I’m in real world matrix.
But that’s not all.
I see lots of recriuters from my contact list are getting fired and looking for new job.
But that’s not all bitches !!!
I sometimes reply to some CEO and they delete posts and invite me to contacts just to ghost me.
I feel so disconnected I started to think all those people are all only bots and I am last living - real person that is not using AI to write something.
I think microsoft finally managed to kill this cash cow with their obsession about AI. Corporate shit is killing every good platform.
Hope for fediverse to take off with some news websites thinking about integration with fediverse.
Help me obi P2P nobi you’re my last torrent hope.
If p2p social networks won’t take off now it would be dead end.13 -
Been away for sometime. What is with the spam in every second post? Feels like the return of Nigerian prince.6

I've never felt that great: just finished school, get my first job, get drunk with friend. Hope it will not end too soon.3

Today I am proud,
because I kept going.
I didn’t give up,
because I needed to reach it.
My finger moved fast,
tapped so fast and I felt it closing in.
So close… oh so close.
It was getting hot.
My vision started to blur,
and yet I could not stop.
I hit the key one more time,
and found my bloody command.3 -
I found a use for Excel. It essentially cures me of low blood pressure.
P.S: Anything against high blood pressure?10 -

No, actually, all of the above is invalid if you've gotta do it in typescript9 -

It's refreshing yet odd when you go from a team with loads of meetings (mostly stand-ups and of that Scrum stuff) to one with only 2 weekly meetings.2

Linux was created by Microsoft in 1998, in response to a request from the Nigerian ministry of education for an easy-to-use graphical desktop environment for beginners. It's named after Linus Todger, a well-known member of the dogging community in Porthmadog who bought one of the first copies and took it to bed for a week.
