As a xenial i have all that genZ shit in my box but wondering, like genX, how can i make it without using all that shit because its an overkill.
Still thinking but doing nothing about it.
That's why xenials === wasted generation -
I would ask if everything is ok, do they need vacation or if they are maybe under the stress. That is if they never had nonsense like this pushed to repo before.
If its the first time, then it's a good teaching moment about how we do things here and why. But also an opportunity to ask what they were thinking they're doing with that code - good for double checking skills. -
Former Yugoslavia had something like that minus the geigermeter/dozimetr!
-
I guess it is the same answer as for: why did chicken cross the road?
-
Best thing is that nowadays it seems everyone is looking for unicorns, even for janitor positions.
-
10% is a pretty big number for this
-
@jestdotty it is funny when you work with "it just works™" people, you really look like some code nerd to them who is nitpicking at perfectly fine, well payed piece of software that is bolognese under the hood.
We don't care if the code is shitty, it doesn't matter because app looks pretty!
Works too!
Those people!
For fucks sake!!! -
@Demolishun actually CEO is big open source contributor and has done some pretty awesome things with both RoR and Typescript. So this isn't it.
@jestdotty I actually CC'd CEO in all my communication with HR but didn't hear from him anymore.
My last email was something in line with - idk where do we go from here, seems that everyone should go its own way.
LOL -
Recently founder/CEO sent me email, directly, like wtf. He saw my GitHub and likes my work, wants me to join his company if I am looking for a job.
I was. It was an interesting company.
Me: Ok, let's do it.
CEO: Ok, here's the link on the current opening just apply.
I applied, HR came in with the email asking bunch of questions, i forwarded the email from CEO that I got in the first place. Sent CV.
HR: I got your CV earlier from the CEO, but I just want to know why would you like to join us. Also we don't need JS developers, ok we do but not right now!
I was like, get the fuck out of here, thank you and good bye! -
I hate scroll hijacking to make it "smoother", but on recent project I removed the scrollbar and it was ok. You can still scroll normally and the pages are not too big so you do 4-5 scrolls and you see footer. For larger sites i wouldn't do that.
Oh you mean that scroll, well I ain't no Aang, so ok, I'll just leave it be. -
@TeachMeCode don't let me start on useEffects and how much of them they have it
About objects.. nope its like:
{
some-stupid-name: {
id: "some-stupid-name",
...
},
another-stupid-name:{
id: "another-stupid-name",
...
},
...
}
I mean you could just send me array of objects if the key of the object is the same as id in that very same object...
Its stupid but it works, i like nothing more than using Object.keys() -
Dude you are like an old bear with a scar over one eye, you have seen and survived some pretty horrible shit!
-
@Demolishun I tought that they have just two of them, male and female!
-
useBrain should be a default hook in react!
IDK what to say anymore, layers of abstraction one over the other, new variables with just old ones attached to them const newVar = oldVar
I will try to save this cool looking but shitty from inside project, I really have the drive but some shit must first be set straight.
I am just curious what will code review look like from some spaghetti making dude! -
BONUS RANT:
Backend is a fucking joke, sending the list of items in a big ass object full of other objects with different keys!
⛽🔥
Just send me a fucking array! -
crying in Roxen
-
All what i get from what he says is something something hairy balls something something
-
Why did you fucking return?
Another traditional re-welcome. -
@webketje thanks for this valuable insight in what does future look like for me
Fuck!!! -
Dude, your nickname here is justified.
Pieces of shit like that make my blood boil. -
I didn't mean you two, Sandler and Nicholson together on the sofa watching Anger Management, they are just actors in the movie.
-
@Ranchonyx @j0n4s you 2 should watch Anger Management with Sandler and Nicholson
-
@awesomeest tbh i don't understand everything about everything you just said, but weird enough I kinda get it.
And I just wanted to say that in the end if the product does the job it itends to do, that's it. -
@awesomeest I get you and I agree with you on tech choices. Especially for OS widgets.
But, this was it, you know, 'one in a lifetime million dollars idea'. I was just dev in the agency that client hired to work on this 'incredible opportunity'.
Idea was to inject js-widget on the website, like an ad that is actually an app with API request (with actual product data from the page).
Response is comparing the product you currently look at in some webshop with clients products with the opportunity to see the big mountain of money that you will save if you buy the product that this widget is pitching instead of the one you are looking at.
Easy project, shitty idea with even shittier ux that shows you the savings graph which was the biggest part of the widget size-wise.
I don't even get how is that piece of shit profitable and why would I as the webshop owner put this kind of crap on my site in the first place.
Subscribe for more shitty projects I did for agencies, awesome stories! XD -
@awesomeest until you have to make widget with no co-dependencies that bundles in a single file.
It was pain in the ass to find charting library that wasn't built on d3 or that packs its dependencies with it, not just referencing it.
But yeah, There's-another-js-library-out-this-week™ approach kinda gives a lot of options for the same thing. -
@devRancid wait what? Is it really possible to be worse than JS ecosystem?
I know that there was some beef between python2 vs python3 and that they diverged at some point.
I did wrote some web file scraping scripts in python3, it was easy thing to do. -
@blindXfish looks like ninja skills are needed, I am all in for hard ass games. I need to feel that I have to put some effort to have fun and this clearly looks like a game that needs effort and skill development to progress.
Let us know when we can give you money for it.
Just curious in the tech stack / dev environment you are using.
Also what OSs will you support? I use all of them, just curious. -
Looks like something I'd play and invest ridiculous amount of time in it!
-
@kiki that's the epitome of evil, I can't even...
-
@kiki tank mines are lesser evil, albeit triggering one by stepping on it surely shows that one should live a healthy life and not be morbidly obese.
Anti infantry ones, especially PROM-1(made in Yugoslavia) are so brutal that even kevlar body armor is no guarantee to stay safe.
My country was full of those, I think that there are still some, marked of course, areas that still has them.
