stick to creation of graphic packages... like with ATMFD.DLL/BLEND?
-
+ it screws any screenshots
-
and if you hit the emoji buttons too fast in random order, there's a good chance the outlook crashes. at least in my case it did few times
-
custom image > no image > windows selected image
-
i like the fact Firefox is first and Chrome last
-
around the time "fake it till you make it" was accepted as "enough" to rake millions in VC money?
-
from the same paragraph: "There is as yet no known complete implementation of this standard"
for real? so they have specs but no compilator which could make use of all those features? -
@IHateFrameworks this "negotiation by threats" is the dumbest shit ever. Its quite sad so many companies still play by it
-
+ everything is horribly slow and bloated with pointless animations and graphical effects

2021 article: https://theverge.com/22684730/...
“They use a computer one way, and we use a computer another way,” Guarin-Zapata emphasizes. “That’s where the problem is starting.” Ford agrees. “These are smart kids,” she says. “They’re doing astrophysics. They get stuff. But they were not getting this.” -
@shovethisrant just because something does not apply for you environment does not mean it's useless
i understand, if all you do are standard linux servers/VMs you don't feel the need. But when working on a legacy network elements where every f*ing device behaves differently, you have 5-8 session in parallel, and everything must be logged for future auditing, PuTTY is an incredible utility -
N++ ftw ... couldn't live without it
@AlgoRythm who uses PuTTY? for example:
a) anyone who needs logging
b) anyone connecting to various flavors of systems and need to be able to have different key maps per session (looking at you ^H and VT100)
c) super simple color setup per session
d) serial line for anything embed -
@lungdart regarding culture, I also partly blame the caste system. Examples:
Our Indian ex-manager tries to be in agreement with whoever ranks above him. Including accepting team guilt for outages we haven't caused (and have evidence) just because higher-up said it had to be us.
Similar with a colleague from T3 support. He's above us, so he automatically disregards any information we provide and then it takes him another 2 hours out of 6 hour maintenance window to figure out what we told him in the beginnning.
And yes, I know this is anecdotal evidence and can't be applied to whole nation/all individuals. -
ban on infinite scroll and autoplay? bring it on ... gonna be a freelance snitch reporting any website that won't disable it
on the other hand - "All online services and products must be safe for children to use" ... all = including pornsites? lolwut? -
Pdfs? What kind of future are you livin in that it does not require stamped paper?
-
@angerydev that's why i clarified i'm for pwd managers but not cloud/centric
-
password managers ftw .. i ain't going to remember all the stupid passwords and ssh keys. especially when managing personal infracture and multiple VMs. But yeah, I use an offline one + DB backup.
otherwise, the term you might be looking for is "Internet of shit"

As some who did azure trainings and labs for past week - yeah, fuck azure.
-
@shovethisrant speedhack ftw
-
The type linter/autoformatter for goven language tells me I am.

it always fascinated me this is how most of the apple lightning cables look like after some time of intensive use ... while even the cheapest premiumcord USB cables are somehow surviving the same usage in the same environment for years
-
tbh i can't do fully compliant UML but also can't imagine working though some projects without architecture diagrams and flow charts created by people who knew standards for drawing them.
-
"they still preserve these morale-bloodsucking motherf**ckers"
who else would want to enter corporate management and survive there than self-centered sociopaths? -
Revolut + virtual card just for transport?
Our public transport moved to using cards as tokens and even did a co-op with card company to issue "blank"/anonymous cards for folks who dont want to associate their main payment card -
tbh i got Win11 a week ago (mandatory corp upgrade) and was fascinated with the focus on "energy saving". I.e. it nags me for choosing a different screen timeout then what i want? wtf?
-
reminds me of fastapi concurrency docs
"You go with your crush to get fast food ... You and your crush eat the burgers and have a nice time"
how is an average socialy awkward nerd supposed to relate to that? -
flat ui is a horrible trend. if you find another front-end developer who designs buttons looking exactly like their surrounding while not being obvious it's a clickable element, please bash their head with a rake
-
and now an absolute deal breaker - dino-cat emoji is gone
https://emojipedia.org/microsoft/... -
@Lensflare found another one
pinning custom toolbars to taskbar - "This feature has been removed from the operating system. "
https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us... -
one thing which pisses me of is that i can no longer have taskbar on the side but must be on the bottom of the screen. thousands of customizations like this disappeared completely. initialy, the taskbard did not even supported icons+text
that got reintroduced after 2 YEARS of the system being released
