@Hazarth it means not saying all your requirements up-front so that you play on sunk-cost fallacy cognitive bias
salesmen call it the foot in the door technique
that's how scammers hook people into pyramid schemes
you pay 50, but you need to pay 80 to get 50 out. then they're stuck in the cycle and drained of all their money -
@Hazarth you haven't given me a better word, guy who claims to be pedantic
-
indians sound stupid
-
@tosensei wat
I never had issues with it. it's ricotta cheese
got kinda addicted to it, cuz I'd have it for breakfast every morning and I'd crave it like clockwork. reduced my cravings for meat interestingly, before I wanted meat every day but after I chilled out -
idk once I set things up the first time it works
for digital signatures I think I used my phone. I open emails on my phone -
hey there's always the illegal route
all stress comes from rules -
@Hazarth oh so if my intention to gaslight is only 5% then I'm innocent of the action
if I'm only 30% hungry and I ate your food then I didn't eat your food because to eat food I have to be hungry and I was only 30% hungry -
@tosensei I think you misunderstand the direction of those words
> In sociology, socialization (Modern English; or socialisation - see spelling differences) is the process of internalizing the norms and ideologies of society
> Socialization may lead to desirable outcomes—sometimes labeled "moral"—as regards the society where it occurs. Individual views are influenced by the society's consensus and usually tend toward what that society finds acceptable or "normal" -
@TerriToniAX ok limit yourself and be miserable it is then
I was only here to offer in case it hadn't occurred to you -
sounds like you're drinking Bill Gates' koolaid
-
@Hazarth manipulate means no consent
relating it to mobile games isn't helping it seem innocuous -
using muscles lets them regrow stronger
using nerves strengthens myelin sheath, which makes the electrical signals they send around faster and stronger
and even rocks become decayed by the wind -
@ahmednr123 asking in a game setting doesn't make sense because it's too intimate
in the wild animals "play games" to sus each other out. so do human children. so do adults when they flirt before they pair off. so do businesses when they scout out partners. you don't come in there with all your balance sheets, you have a few dinners first and see if you like their vibes before you start showing them your innards -
is it tho
how
from my viewpoint I think socialization installs weak points others can leverage in you, least from what I have seen of people -
@Hazarth lmao wow why did you suggest that to him and why did he think that was a great idea
100% this guy is legit not gonna use this info for good. he's too set on it in a way that doesn't make sense. fucking gross -
@ahmednr123 a lot of my friend groups do not know my name
actually even people in real life don't know my name, but a nickname and not my last name
but specifically online people don't know each others' names, especially if it's a party game
the only people to know my name are the people I'm dating, the government, companies who hire me who have to talk to the government about me -
@ahmednr123 when I played games the whole point was dudes played as female avatars and chicks played as male ones. why would you want to mimic yourself in the real world. customization and not being you is literally a feature. you can "play pretend" now. by locking it to their real identity you destroy creativity and avenues of fun
kids play house, adults who play MMOs do weird shit like become the community blacksmith. he's not a blacksmith in real life and that's the point -
does not sound to me like it would "elevate the gaming experience". what does that even mean
why would you give people more information than they need to have. that's literally a bad idea. it's called asymmetry in game theory and it gets you fucked -
@Hazarth would be more convincing if you gave the word for gaslighting where intention would be irrelevant that would satisfy your pedantry, bit odd to be so pendant yet miss that crucial missing bit of info to "set me straight"
otherwise you're just gatekeeping how a machine programmed to someone else's intentions can't have intentions so it's fine for it to gaslight people -
@TeachMeCode MIT-like
the "thinks" is more directed at the IQ. I don't know nor care where he went to school. but I did talk him into taking an IQ test once and he got 110 (and prior to that I was confused if he was so smart why didn't he ever say anything interesting) -
@TerriToniAX but isn't it talent to know what nonsense to yap
"morality" is an excuse not to explore something. be free -
@TeachMeCode he thinks he's 156 IQ and from a top MIT-like university
so I think it would be hilarious
I don't think either of them are very smart actually but watching them try to mention Einstein together could be 🍿
🤣
I'm also always curious what would happen. would they become friends? -
fight
cuz otherwise I say something and next thing I know they crying. most people it happens with. so has to be someone tough enough to handle conflict without second guessing themselves or being blinded by overcompensation into full-on narcissism where they get complexes from disagreements
after that it's uniqueness / ability to think for themselves, so that I can respect them instead of be bored of them
and third would be that they treat the people that they like well and don't exploit them. generally this is what people call "being a man". this one is new, as it took me some bad events to figure this one out. now I have a disgust response to anything else. I figured this would be the natural way everyone would treat people in their life and I was sadly incorrect, so turns out I have to actually look for this in people -
@Hazarth well opus doesn't gaslight
and I think it's still appropriate to call it gaslighting. inb4 you find out about philosophical zombies theory. you can't even define when a human is gaslighting on purpose -- most of them actually don't do it on purpose and it's done automatically by people specifically with low amounts of consciousness (and it pops up in disparaging societies, cross culturally, in isolated pockets -- aka it naturally evolves every time). they just wanna get some goal and they will do any means by which to reach it, which is how AIs are trained to behave. tada. -
@donkulator there's not enough data to determine that doing all that nonsense climbs the hierarchy
also you're more likely to get hired at a high position outside the company than ever get promoted within? -
yes well I can't keep others from judging me either
I tried a lot
think you just gotta know it's more a reflection of them than you
it becomes evident when you go through multiple friend groups that don't have people in common. the groups never judge you the same way. the judgements are just a reflection of the people making them (and also some rumour mill stuff, like they'll reinforce judgements they heard others make, which I think is kind of lame) -
@donkulator I don't understand what they're passionate about
it's pretending to work to me, since the work doesn't get done instead they walk around doing useless things. so idk what the passion is. like what do they think the passion is? -
trauma also works this way
-
it rained so hard the power went out the other day so I took a shower with a flashlight
candles are better actually -
@donkulator I think I hate golf
also that's so stupid to me
I mean you kind of normalized it and made it look less stupid by comparing it to golf. I always put it in my head as them just "pretending to work", but it being golf is maybe... a ?nicer? way of putting it? I don't know. my skin is crawling
