I am fucking out of shape. I hate it. I also dislike gyms and exercising doing some repetitive boring set of things. I feel like exercise should be a functional thing. My mind has issues so I end up not exercising. I walk every day 2 to 3 times a day at work. So I am getting some exercise, but not enough. I also like to play games. I saw a reference to a "Skyrim workout". I thought, hey I should look into that. So I found a couple of workouts tied to game mechanics. I am going to start with the simpler one until I see how this will "work out"... If this is successful I think I will create a mod that people can customize their workouts. Less fatty gamers unite!
I have also changed my diet to mostly non carbs. I allow some carbs, but not most. I feel better in general. I just need to actually move more. Have found I don't really get hungry anymore, or not as much.
Anyway, here is the simpler workout I found:23 -
>"We need this project finished for tomorrow"
<"But we don't even know what the client wants for parts X, Y and Z"
I'm currently in a sinking ship of a company that has no proper project management or documentation. Requirements mutate with the lead manager's biorhythms and all projects are delayed because he's incapable of scouting or retaining talent.
Unless I've misread their financial situation, I don't think they'll stay in business throughout the year without some major restructuring. -
asked to estimate size of ticket about adding test data, but no details about what test cases or what kind of data

In my last rant, I complained about our rebranding document that was very much lacking... Their listed colours are slightly different than the colours used in their logo...
How do they fuck up copy pasting the colour values. And yes, it was meant to be the same.1 -
You know, having covid [ie self-isolation] has its plus side. I am now getting a lot more alone-time!2

Ok... the devs at doordash are even dumber than i thought.
I placed an order for bubble tea like 2 hrs ago, its 22:13 now. It still says assigning a dasher. I look at the 'store' page and its been closed since 22:00. I look for a cancel button so i dont get annoying pings etc...
I go to help and select to cancel it. Then it tells me they r sry for the delay but if i wait it should be here in ~35min and they'll give me 15$ credit (whole order was 17) so ofc i clicked that... cuz it's closed, im gonna get a refund when someone realises its closed, now i get an extra 15$.
Why didn't they write in a simple check of the hours of the store so they stop looking for someone to get a non-existent item from a closed store? It's not like they dont know its closed.9 -
Tech lead doesn't focus on the fact that I solved the problem, only says stuff like:
- "yeah but this is why we are Agile"
- "did someone else review your code?"
- "you can't expect me to have to understand what the program does"
- "did you get permission from X to solve this problem?"
- "talk to someone else if you have any problem. only come to me with answers"
I guess I don't have to explain I don't like my tech lead.12 -
How can you trust Microsoft to find your shit in time when:
- updates delete your files
- outlook can’t find your emails
- word documents randomly get not saved.
It’s like asking a person with dementia where my wallet is.4 -

I swear Raspberry Pi's whole thing used to be that it's this cool cheap small computer you can play with and use for small projects because it practically cost nothing.
Nowadays it's literally cheaper to buy an actual small/old computer than the Pi with all the dongles and the cables and addons.
What is even the use of it anymore?
And it's not like the Orange Pi is *much* cheaper either.7 -
I'm reviewing a PR and it's easy to detect which functions were created with an AI: the ones that have comments.1

I love reading code samples where the author was clearly very talented and up to the task, but had clearly used a different language up until that point, so they write with a strong accent. The C# codebase I'm working on right now for example had clearly been written by Delphi programmers6

No fuck off we don't need a team meeting about it.
We shouldn't need to go in front of a panel to begin with, let us get on with our job and let us automate the shit so sprint planning wouldn't be so difficult3 -
I can’t anymore with those companies hiring unicorns only, reposting the same job offer for 6 months while they could have hired someone more junior and taught them. 1 year my girlfriend is in the “no experience” death loop while she outsmarts me by far.10

Microsoft have recently announced two things that are related to each other:
1. Windows 11 will be equipped with a built-in Copilot that will "see" everything the user does and store it locally (at least so they say).
2. A new PC, redesigned from ground up with AI in mind, called CoPilot+ PC, will be released in June.
I'm not sure if any of this is good news. It's disturbing enough that MS Word interfers with my work by displaying "friendly" pop ups about how Copilot can assist me. And there seems to be no way of turning the damn thing off. I don't want to use Word anymore, but at work I'm forced to use Microsoft's shitty office applications. So now I'm resorting to WordPad, which has a much cleaner interface and hasn't yet been infected with M$ Artificial Idiot CockPilot.6 -
I'm convinced no one really understands OAuth2, probably not even the creators.
Every blog, articles and tutorial, you have people saying don't do this, don't do that. Basically, no one agrees on a single implementation.
Want to use passwords for auth in a first party system you fully own? Apparently, that's unsafe.
Hmmm, what about magic links for passwordless auth? Also not safe you say?
Okay, I believe Okta just wants people to use their services, nothing else.17 -
I just finished replacing perl's builtin Storable with my own deranged take on it because I wanted to be more efficient about saving and loading snapshots of a VM to disk.
It was a resounding success, of course. But what am I doing with my life? -
Applied to a company and it gave me an automated assessment. Upon opening the link, it asks me to turn on the camera so it can periodically take snapshots of me.
Micromanaging already?
Fuck you.6 -
Also, holy FUCKING SHIT. DEPLOYING A KUBERNETES CLUSTER JENKINS AND SONARQUBE EC2s, TAKES SO MUCH FUCKING RESOURCES AND COSTS SO FUCKING MUCH THAT THIS HURTS ME FUCKING PHYSICALLY.
HOW DO I PRACTICE WORKING DEVOPS WITH KUBERNETES ON AWS IF THE COSTS ARE FUCKING OUTRAGEOUS?????8 -
Apple just told me to get a new Mac to allow me to upload apps to the store by setting their minimum Xcode version to 15 which my Mac currently does not support. This version was released less than six months ago if I'm not mistaken, and now I have to head to the bank tomorrow because Apple.2

Zoom free tier calls end after 40 minutes.
Idea: pwyw conference software where the call ends after 40 minutes if the host isn't paying €5 more monthly than everyone else in the call. There is no way to discover whether this is a limited call until the 40 minute mark, and there's no way to discover who outbid the host at all except by getting everyone to show their bank statement.1 -
My department head is shitposting in the company slack on the middle day of a 3 day weekend. I guess it doesn't really count as encouraging overtime because it's not work-related, but come on, does he really have nothing better to do?3

Looks like my subscription to devRant++ has just been cancelled in Google Play Store... and it's not posdtble to renew, because the item doesn't exist anymore.
